Hi, I'm Edward Dai, A freelance technical sound designer based in Vancouver, Canada.
My relationship with sound started on the violin, where I spent years honing my performance skills in the classical world. But as my career evolved, I found myself drawn to the "how" behind the sound—the technology that brings media to life.
I transitioned from performing on stage to crafting audio for the screen, working on everything from audition tapes to indie films. My time in Game QA gave me an insider's look at how software is built, and my training at Vancouver Film School solidified my ability to deliver a "fully featured" audio package.
Today, I help developers and creators in Vancouver and beyond build better worlds through sound. While my heart lies in the technical intricacies of game audio, I am equally competent at mixing a film or editing a podcast. I look forward to bring your next project to life through audio.
Working with Edward Dai on my horror game project, Lambyrinth, was an amazing experience. He was professional, easy to communicate with, and picked up our vision very quickly. Edward is extremely technically skilled, and our game’s audio (which included a lot of context-driven dialogue based on player actions) ended up being a major highlight of the final experience. I’d love to work with Edward again and would recommend him to any team looking for a wizard of a technical sound designer.
